What is a Life Insurance Policy?
Life insurance is a contract where the insurer promises to pay a designated beneficiary a sum of money in exchange for a premium, upon the death of an insured person. Typically paid out as a lump sum benefit that is paid when the policyholder either passes away or a specific amount of time has passed.
The two types of life insurance are term and perm. Permanent life can be broken down into more categories: Universal Life, Variable, Whole Life, or Final Expense (Burial).
Life insurance is for everyone regardless of the stage of life they are in. Young families need to protect their income in case of an unexpected and untimely death. Older families may have concerns about legacy planning and tax-advantaged wealth transfers.
