Short Term Medical Plans
Short Term Medical or "Limited Duration Insurance" is an alternative to the Affordable Care Act. It can be used to bridge the gap in your healthcare coverage. Whether you are between jobs and needing temporary insurance, missed an enrollment period for ACA, do not qualify for ACA subsidies or financial assistance this is a solution that can be beneficial.
Short Term Medical plans can be purchased outside of open enrollment windows and generally require underwriting to qualify. Short Term Medical plans can vary greatly depending on what carrier you are considering. These plans are not required to adhere to the legislation that regulates the Affordable Care Act, and are not required to offer "minimum essential coverage" like the ACA is required to do. Short Term Medical plans can also have exclusions or limitations including pre-existing conditions.
Short Term Medical plans typically cover preventive care, doctor visits, urgent care, and emergency care.
